It is strange time we are living through, isn’t it? This painting resonates with me today. The colours are blurred and out of focus. I can’t tell if it is springtime or fall. I am stuck in the “in-between” place and not sure what will happen next.
How are you doing? So much has changed since my last post. We safely returned from our vacation in Arizona March 6th, right before travel began to be affected. Then for the remainder of March I was preoccupied with getting my brother, Jim Zakreski, safely home from abroad.
Jim is a Marine Biologist who was stuck on a ship anchored near the city of Ushuaia, Argentina. He shared a compelling account of his journey home with CBC Saskatchewan. You can check Jim’s interviews in the link below. As I write this post, Jim is healthy, and safely quarantined at home in Victoria. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/sask-born-marine-biologist-stranded-on-ship-disembarks-1.5506299
I was in constant contact with Jim via social media throughout his nail-biting adventure back to Canada. I watched him remain calm and grounded through the whole ordeal. He hunkered down, stayed alert, kept his attention on the day in front of him and how he could be useful to other people.
What I watched Jim do, is default back to his survivalist training. Jim said to me ” When you are lost in the wilderness, the worst thing to do is run. Stay put, don’t panic, and plan what to do next”.
This quarantine could go on for weeks. There is an odd “new normal” taking hold. The most important thing I can do now is to stay at home, stay healthy, and see how I can be useful to others – and plan.
One of my plans is to offer my wonderful blog subscribers a “virtual tea break”. This is a complimentary 45-minute coaching session open to my current blog subscribers that you can access during the month of April.
Use this time as a check-in, and a chance to talk confidentially about what’s on your mind or reflect on your response to these uncertain times. Get some perspective on what’s in your control and what you can focus on over the next couple of months.
Reply to this mail and we can set up a Zoom or telephone session with me between now and April 30th. I deeply appreciate your readership and I’d truly welcome hearing from you.
And let’s get real. At the very least this could just be an opportunity for both of us to talk to someone not living in our house. 🙂
In the meantime – stay home and stay healthy my friends.
